A few weeks ago, I dared you to write a letter to your younger self. Your charge was to write about things you know now that you wish you knew then. I decided to write to my 2o year old self. Below is what I wrote:
I’ve learned so much about myself over the years, but one key lesson I want you to know is to internalize your true value and worth. The poem below titled “You.Are.Amazing” summarizes the lessons I learned that I don’t want you to forget:
As. you. are.
Stronger than you know.
Worthier than you believe.
More loved than you can ever imagine.
Passionate about making a difference.
Fiery when protecting those you love.
Learning. Growing. Not alone.
Warm. Giving. Generous.
Quirky. Sexy. Funny. Smart.
Flawed. Whole. Scared. Brave.
And so, so, so.much.more.
Be Strong. Be Confident. Be You.
So many women– young and seasoned– struggle with their self-esteem. Your intrinsic value comes from being a child of God. Live like one. Love like one. Represent him in all you do. Live for him and not someone else’s goals and dreams for your life. You and the world will be better for it.
I believe in your future. I believe in you.
What did you write to yourself? Will you share your letter with your son? daughter? sister? brother? mentee?
Here’s life’s well-earned lessons,
