Hello blog readers!
I am a guest blogger on Beryl’s blog. I’m a 20-something working in the Capital of the South (Atlanta, GA). I am grateful for the opportunity to bring the perspective of the young professional to the blog.
I’ve recently had surgery and am blessed with a job that allowed me the flexibility to work from home while I recovered. Since I’ve been recuperating, I’ve had some extra time on my hands to do some introspection and consider if I’m happy with my life thus far.
I have to say I’m truly blessed. I’ve accomplished much and had great experiences in my short life. I’ve learned over the years to put more emphasis on building relationships and investing in my spirituality while I try to climb the proverbial “corporate ladder.”
All of this introspection led me to the idea of creating a Bucket List. The movie “Bucket List” shows a couple of elderly gentlemen with terminal cancer considering the things in life they wanted to do before they died. Instead, my “bucket list” will include experiences, both personal and professional, exhilarating and mundane, that I want to accomplish before my 20s end.
Some items from my list are:
- Hot Air Balloon Ride
- A Trip to Belize
- Become a Business Owner
- Regular Community Service
- Take a Photography Class
So what’s on your bucket list? It could be a list of long lost dreams you want to complete but never found the time. Or a few excursions or attempts at spontaneity you want to complete in the next year or two. Whatever it is, use it as an opportunity to reflect on all the blessings and challenges life has given you. It is a chance to start anew with insights learned from life lessons
I challenged a few Facebook friends to join me as I create my list. We will share our lists and progress made over the next couple of years.
I’d love to hear what you add to your list. Feel free to post a few items in the comments.
Cheers to refreshing new experiences and dreams from long ago,
